It may soon be illegal in Louisiana to give money to panhandlers from your car window.
Rep. Dixon McMakin, the Baton Rouge Republican who wrote the bill, says it's about the safety of everybody on the road.
It's already illegal in many places to be begging in the streets, and McMakin says the new bill holds donors accountable as well.
The new bill discourages drivers from holding up traffic at an intersection, and encourages the homeless to get out of traffic and seek help from shelters.
