Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana says he plans to seek the nomination for Speaker of the House.
Johnson made the announcement in a social media post on Saturday.
He represents Louisiana's 4th Congressional District, which includes much of the northern and western parts of the state
Johnson's fellow Republicans Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio both failed in their attempts to be elected House Speaker.
