House Majority Leader Steve Scalise is running to be the next House speaker.
He made the announcement today after huddling with members of the Republican Conference.
The Louisiana Republican was shot during a congressional baseball practice in 2017, and recently announced he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan also announced he's running for the position today.
Republicans are scrambling to find a new Speaker after Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the role this week.
