Some national civil rights groups are calling for hearings specifically for death row inmates in Louisiana.

Multiple organizations have drafted a letter to Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Pardon Board.

According to a release from the ACLU of Louisiana, groups are calling for Edwards and the Louisiana Pardon Board to set hearings to grant clemency to death row inmates who have submitted applications.

A spokesperson with the ACLU of Louisiana said the death penalty in the state is "rife with errors, racial bias, and official misconduct."
