The Livingston Parish School System is suing several social media outlets for damaging the mental health of its students and teens across the nation.

The suit was filed last month in parish court, but was moved to federal court this week.

The defendants are TikTok and Instagram, their parent companies ByteDance and Meta, and Internet providers Cox Communications and Charter.

The school system is seeking damages and asking for legal intervention to prevent further harm to young people.
