Gov. John Bel Edwards says help is coming from all over the country to fight the Tiger Island fire in Beauregard Parish.

The blaze has been burning for almost a week and has spread to 33,000 acres, making it one of the biggest wildfires ever seen in Louisiana.

More than 600 wildfires this month have burned almost 100 square miles of land statewide.

Edwards says he and other state leaders are talking about spending state funds on training, equipment, and personnel in order to be prepared to respond to wildfires.
