The attorney for NOPD Officer Jeffrey Vappie says the officer never admitted to his wife that he had an affair with Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
A divorce filing says Vappie admitted the affair to his wife.
Surveillance video shows the mayor making personal use of a city-owned apartment almost every day for nearly a month. Cantrell and Vappie reportedly spent hours during the workday and late at night alone in the upper Pontalba apartment.
The mayor's personal use of the unit possibly violates both city policy and state law.
