Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards wants teachers to get a raise.

The governor told legislators during Monday's address at the start of the 2022 Legislative Session that educators should get a $2,000 pay increase after originally proposing a $1,500 raise.

Edwards says it's the least that can be done to help teachers who made sure students had a good education during the pandemic.
