The House Health and Welfare Committee says the coronavirus vaccine shouldn't be mandated for Louisiana school kids.

The panel voted 13-2 on Monday not to add the vaccine to the state's School Immunization Schedule.

Parents and Republican state lawmakers spoke out against the mandate.

Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to overrule the committee and allow the mandate to take effect next fall. State Attorney General Jeff Landry says they'll "see him in court" if that happens.
