Louisiana is celebrating the victory of the nation's first African-American Spelling Bee champion.
A parade and second line were held in New Orleans Sunday in honor of Zaila Avant-garde, who made history this month by spelling the word "murraya" to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Avant-garde is also the holder of three Guinness World Records in basketball and a champion juggler and unicyclist.
LSU and Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge announced they were planning to offer full-ride scholarships to Avant-garde for her achievements.
