The Southeastern Conference is postponing the start of competition for volleyball, soccer, and cross-country until at least August 31.

LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward confirmed the conference's decision yesterday, saying the move to delay the sports was made in the interest of the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans.

SEC officials said the move does not impact plans for the fall football schedule, but all scenarios are being discussed.

LSU and other SEC schools will continue to follow guidance from the conference's Return to Activity and Medical Advisory Task Force, which monitors daily developments related to the pandemic.
