Jefferson Parish To Make Wearing Face Masks In Public Mandatory

Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng says she will sign an emergency proclamation making wearing masks at businesses and restaurants mandatory.

Sheng announced on Monday that once signed, the measure will go into effect on Wednesday and will apply to both customers and employees.

Sheng added that Parish attorneys were looking into the legality of having the Sheriff's Office enforce the mandate by issuing citations to those who don't wear a mask.

Sheng said it would be up to businesses to make sure customers are complying with the rule similar to a no shirt, no shoes, no service entry philosophy.
