The latest update from the Louisiana Department of Health Wednesday put the total number of reported COVID-19 cases statewide at 38,497 with 2,617 deaths.
The number of those hospitalized from the coronavirus fell to 798 with 100 of those still on a ventilator.
State health officials are looking into 105 deaths determined as probable COVID-19 deaths by coroners or physicians. The number could change depending on whether a test result is positive or negative.
