N.O. Councilmembers Want To Shift Hotel Project Money To Help Hospitality

Two New Orleans Council members say they want to take over a billion dollars from an entertainment district project and shift it to help workers hit by the pandemic.

Council members Jay Banks and Kristen Palmer released details yesterday of a resolution to have the Morial Hall Exhibition Hall Authority tap into its taxpayer reserve fund.

The money is scheduled to be used for a plan to build a new 1,200 room hotel and 20-acre entertainment district.

Palmer said now is not the time to spend money on costly developments.
