The city of New Orleans is moving several dozen homeless residents to a hotel in New Orleans East.

On Tuesday, people began relocating from a hotel in the Central Business District to the new space where they will have access to social workers to help them with substance abuse issues, looking for jobs, and finding permanent housing.

Officials began offering around 200 homeless temporary shelter on March 26th to get them off the streets where they had a much higher chance of being exposed to COVID-19.

A mix of federal, state, and local funds are being used to pay for the hotel.
