The New Orleans area cruise ship industry is waiting to see what economic impact awaits following a New directive from the U.S. State Department.

On Sunday, the U.S. State Department issued an official advisory for American citizens to avoid traveling on cruise ships.

The warning comes from new guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control on how to limit an individual's risk to exposure to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The CDC says those currently most at risk for COVID-19 are people with underlying medical conditions and the elderly.
