The city of New Orleans is activating its freeze plan from 8 a.m. today until 11 a.m. tomorrow due to falling temperatures.

Meteorologists are forecasting temperatures below the 35-degrees threshold Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, prompting the activation of the plan.

Officials are also providing residents with the following cold weather tips, including dressing in layers, bringing pets indoors, avoiding using a stove as a heat source, never leaving space heaters unattended, and checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are functioning.
