A three-year-old girl is dead after succumbing to injuries sustained in an apartment fire yesterday afternoon in Metairie.
Officials say firefighters were able to rescue the girl from inside the burning building, but she later died after arriving at University Medical Center.
According to reports, the fire broke out just before 6 p.m. at a complex near the corner of Riverside and Jeannette.
Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire.
