State police say a 54-year-old man is dead after he was struck yesterday afternoon while riding in an electric wheelchair on a road in the Lafourche Parish town of Thibodaux.
Troopers say the victim, Carl Guidry, was westbound on Choctaw Road near the fog line when he swerved into the path of a Jeep Cherokee. He died at the scene.
The elderly man driving the SUV escaped injury and was not charged.
