New Orleans is on track to become the first city in the nation with charter organizations operating all of its public schools.

That future was set last night when the Orleans Parish School Board voted five-to-two in favor of InspireNOLA, a charter operator, taking over McDonogh 35 Senior High under a two-year management agreement.

Once the current 11th and 12th grade classes graduate, the school will close and the charter group will create McDonogh 35 College Preparatory that will eventually include grades nine through 12.
