Voters on Tuesday decided the fate of a half-dozen proposed amendments to the Louisiana Constitution.
The one drawing the most attention garnered two-to-one approval. It requires a unanimous verdict for convictions in non-capital felonies rather than the current minimum of ten jurors opting for a guilty finding among a jury panel of 12.
Voters also approved amending the state constitution to bar a convicted felon from seeking or holding public office within five years of completing his or her sentence unless pardoned.
