Body Found In Raceland Is Missing Metairie Woman

An autopsy has confirmed a body found in Raceland Saturday is that of missing Metairie woman Mia West, Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced Monday.

The 43-year-old West's body was found not far from where her car was discovered by a sugar-cane farmer along LA 307. West had been missing since early October.

Due to the condition of the remains, a cause and date of death has yet to be determined and detectives say neither suicide nor foul play have been ruled out.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at 1-800-743-7433 or online at crimestoppersbr.org. Tips can also be submitted using the P3 Tips app on your mobile device.

The LPSO says tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
