Two kittens found dead are believed to have suffered the consequences of the air conditioning going out Tuesday night at an animal shelter in southeast Louisiana.

The Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society in Plaquemines Parish posted an urgent message to the public Wednesday on the problem and believe heat played a role in the death of the two kittens.

It may take up to two weeks to get the AC fixed, so the call was put out for adopters and fosters to help get the animals out of the shelter and the shelter's urgent need for portable air conditioning units and fans.
