The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that former U.S. Attorney and Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan is under investigation involving contraband.
Jordan is currently in private practice.
The OPSO says a courtroom deputy noticed Jordan handing an envelope to a client he was representing in Criminal District Court.
Investigators searched the envelope and found "illegal narcotics", according to a press release.
"This incident highlights the constant efforts made to introduce contraband into our facility even by attorneys," said Sheriff Marlin Gusman.
Jordan says he plans to talk to the sheriff to give his side of the story, and at last word had not been charged.
