Man Dies After Being Taken In To JPSO Custody

A man has died after being taken into custody this morning by Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies.

Keeven Robinson was arrested this morning after a pursuit involving two wrecked police cars and a foot chase. Officers attempted to arrest Robinson on suspicion of dealing drugs, which prompted him to flee.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says Robinson stopped breathing once he was in handcuffs, and they performed CPR and called for EMS.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials say there is no indication of officer misconduct at this time.
