Legislation advancing in the Louisiana Legislature could bring about a big change for the riverboat casino industry in the state.
A senate judiciary committee gave the thumbs-up yesterday to a bill that would permit the state's 15 floating casinos to expand 1,200 feet onto land from their current locations.
And, instead of capping gambling space at 30,000 square feet as is currently done, the bill would limit each casino to having just over 2,300 gambling machines.
