A new music law in Louisiana will bring benefits to local music businesses.

The Louisiana Music Industry Investment Act is now in effect and rewards businesses which hire local professionals. The new law will allow owners better tax credits if they keep the business within the state.

It can be anything from local manufacturers to local musicians, singers or writers.

State Representative Walt Leger authored the bill and worked with the Recording Academy, which sponsors the Grammys to get it passed.
