Memorial services take place today for the first African-American woman to serve as a Louisiana state trooper.
The funeral for Joyce Thibodeaux took place at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Twelfth Street in Lafayette. Thibodeaux served for 21-years as a detective with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Division before her retirement.
She was 68-years-old at the time of her death this week.
