Kenner Drivers Warned Of Lane Closures At Williams & Vets

Repair of asphalt pavement damage from a ruptured water main late last year will lead to lane closures at the intersection of Williams Boulevard and Veterans starting on Saturday.

The closure in its entirety will last from 8 p.m. Saturday through Monday at 5 a.m. and then from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers should expect delays.

Between 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 p.m. Monday, westbound Veterans will be closed at Williams and all traffic will be forced to U-turn onto eastbound Veterans. Suggested alternate routes to I-10 are the Veterans Boulevard on-ramps or David Drive to West Esplanade or Airline Drive.

Northbound Williams will be down to one lane and a left turn lane onto westbound Veterans. No right turn will be allowed onto eastbound Veterans initially. The hope is to have the right turn lane reopen late Sunday afternoon.

There will be no left turn allowed onto eastbound Veterans from southbound Williams. Suggested alternates are West Esplanade before approaching I-10, West Napoleon or West Metairie.

Eastbond Veterans will be closed and traffic diverted to southbound Williams. The suggested alternate route is Loyola Drive to I-10 or Loyola to West Esplanade.

DOTD says the cost of the repairs is $255,000.
