A New Orleans man is facing felony charges after he forced his way into a home in Amite, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies, Acadian Ambulance, and the Amite Fire Department responded to a residence on Richardson Street Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. regarding a shooting.
When the arrived, deputies located 36-year-old Dequincy Jackson of New Orleans with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Jackson forced his way into the residence. Once inside, Jackson came in contact with an unsuspecting 25-year-old Roseland resident who was a guest in the home.
The guest immediately demanded Jackson leave the residence. Jackson refused at which time an altercation ensued resulting in Jackson being shot in the leg.
Jackson suffered non-life-threatening injuries, however remains in the hospital. Upon his release, he faces a felony charge of Unauthorized Entry of An Inhibited Dwelling.
